Aperture chart (f-stops explained)
Full-stop f-numbers, the light each lets in, and what they mean for depth of field.
Each full stop halves the light of the previous one. The f-number is a ratio, so larger numbers mean smaller openings and more depth of field.
| f-stop | Relative light |
|---|---|
| f/1.4 | 1 |
| f/2 | 1/2 |
| f/2.8 | 1/4 |
| f/4 | 1/8 |
| f/5.6 | 1/16 |
| f/8 | 1/32 |
| f/11 | 1/64 |
| f/16 | 1/128 |
| f/22 | 1/256 |
